Have You Screened For Thyroid Dysfunction?

Let Us Guide You Towards Wellness.

It Pays To Pay Attention To Those Warning Signs
thyroidDon’t shrug off that abrupt change of mood you are experiencing lately, thinking it’s “one of those days.” No, it is not. Yes, we all go through low moments sometimes, but the frequent mood swings you are having, your irritable feeling, that unexplainable state of mind, that feeling of anxiety you are going through coupled with that sense of nervousness, these may all be symptoms pointing to a thyroid dysfunction. You should pay attention to these signals, especially if you are a woman.
When was the last time you had your thyroid screened? According to the American Thyroid Association (ATA), up to 60 percent of the 20 million Americans estimated to suffer from one form of thyroid morbidity or the other have no knowledge of their condition. Women are more at risk of developing a thyroid disorder, but everyone should get checked regularly. The Office on Women’s Health of the US Department of Health and Human Services reports that “women are more likely than men to have thyroid diseases.” The ATA puts the figure at one in every eight women to suffer from a thyroid disorder in their lifetime. Giving increased attention to the condition of your thyroid is of great significance. So, what symptoms should you be looking out for?
Symptoms You Should Look Out For
Your thyroid gland is an important secretory organ that produces a hormone from iodine which is obtained from the food you eat. This hormone is known as the thyroid hormone. It travels in your bloodstream to all parts of your body and impacts your weight, your body temperature, how fast your heart beats, your state of mind, as well as your physical energy. In other words, your body’s metabolism is regulated by it. If your thyroid gland is not producing sufficient thyroid hormones, you will suffer from a condition known as hypothyroidism. Symptoms you will experience may include unintended weight gain, depression, impaired memory, and fatigue. On the other hand, if your thyroid gland is producing an excess of the thyroid hormone, you might be experiencing a condition known as hyperthyroidism. Some of the symptoms include unintended weight loss, muscle ache/weakness, difficulty sleeping, sensitivity to heat and/or cold, mood swings, twitching and/or trembling, a swelling in your neck, thinning hair, and palpitations. In order not to be at risk of severe conditions like osteoporosis, infertility, and cardiovascular diseases, you should get screened without delay.
Schedule Your Consultation
If you are experiencing symptoms of a thyroid condition, schedule a hormone consult at GEM State Holistic Health for your thyroid and hormone diagnosis and treatment. Take the first step and use our 3-step process by scheduling a lab draw for the Hormone Panel. Once the results are back, this will be followed by a review. Subsequently, a consultation with Dr. Joshua Morris, MD, completes the process and gets you on your way to feeling better.
